An event you won’t want to miss…

Posted in Fig Columbia

Did you go last year? Yes? Well, then you know. No? Silly. Get your ticket now. Ladies Night Out at the Columbia Museum of Art is always a good time and this one will be the best yet.

Ladies Night Out at CMA.

First of all, this event is hosted during the newest exhibition, I Heard a Voice: The Art of Lesley Dill. If you haven’t seen it, this would be a wonderful time.

Second, hors d’œuvres will be provided by M Café and dessert by Cupcake. What’s not to love about that? Also? There will be drinks. And shopping. Guests are invited to shop with A Checkered Past, Alicia’s Gifts, Magar Hatworks, Nana by Sally, and VanJean. BTDub, are you familiar with Magar Hatworks? Leigh Magar makes some…pretty major hats. The Shop Tart spotted her at an upstate wedding once and couldn’t take her eyes off of Leigh’s fab feathered topper.

Pout! will be there to help you look your absolute best. DJ Peter A will keep the energy up with great music and Vista Ballroom’s tango will keep you on your toes. Other sponsors include Massage Envy (hmmm…might there be demos?) and Synergy Fitness.

Speaking of Synergy Fitness, remember our contest? Winner Erin Reppy has been working hard with trainer Mary Nash. This was her very inspiring winning entry:

Pick me! Pick me! Pick me! In all seriousness, please consider my entry for the Mary/Synergy giveaway. On September 24th, I am celebrating six years cancer-free. I have spent the last six years focusing on getting healthy, being a mom and being an advocate for young breast cancer survivors in Columbia. Alas, all that leaves me little time to workout…who am I kidding, it’s an excuse! I am terrified of injuring myself. I know how to do the cardio bit, walk, read Shape Magazine, gossip with friends, shop (those don’t count?), but I am scared of anything outside my comfort zone other than the whole getting on a treadmill routine. Also, some of us could use the motivation a personal one-on-one session would provide, not all of us can eloquently eat our way through the restaurants of Columbia and stay ever so healthy, slim and trim, what IS your secret Shop Tart?!

I would be happy to agonize over – just kidding – gush over – the amazing sessions Mary Nash is giving away via blog and/or photos, ahem, as long as there are no close ups of my soon-to-be transformed rear.

The Shop Tart and Mary agreed that Erin had the passion and the sense of humor needed to make a transformation and Erin tells us it’s going well! (Look for her updates very soon.) Speaking of contests, the Shop Tart has two goodie bags from the museum’s Ladies Night Out to give away to two lucky readers, absolutely free. To be entered to win, leave a comment on this post telling everyone about your favorite pair of shoes. Entries will not be judged on their merits, the Shop Tart just wants to know. Why do you love them? How often do you wear them? Do you remember when you bought them? Everyone who comments will be entered in a drawing to win the bags. What do they include? Lots of cool stuff:

  • Several beauty samples from Pout!, known for their incredibly luxurious samples.
  • A custom-made coaster set from eco-friendly specialty card maker Utopia Invitations. They are printed by vintage letterpress, all the rave these days.
  • Utopia Invitations coasters.

  • A magnet with original butterfly artwork by American artist Christopher Marley entitled Form and Pheromone.
  • CMA magnet.

  • A tin of “Before the Kiss” peppermints.

  • A Shakespearean Love Mug from the Museum Shop

  • A coupon for 25 percent off any single item in the Museum Shop.
  • And more!

In addition to all of the above, the evening will be filled with fab conversation, lots of style and plenty of fun. Have you ever noticed how well women dress at ladies only events? Ladies Night Out will be a great place to get fall fashion inspiration!

I have a fantastic pair of dark purple suede pumps with a bow on the top. I got them from Kicks and I love them! They are super comfortable. I wear them almost every week.

  2. melanie says:

My favorite pair of shoes have not yet really been “worn”. I have put them on a few times and on Saturday for pictures, but I’ll be wearing them 2 weeks from tomorrow when I get married! My soon to be mother in law purchased these gorgeous and comfortable silver diamondy looking Jimmy Choos for me to wear on my wedding day! For that they will always be my favorites….they will be walking me to my husband!!

  3. Meggie says:

My favorite pair were my purple, low heel patent leather Moschino Cheap & Chic shoes(although, who are they kidding in terms of cheap!!!) open-toe with ruffles on top. I bought them in NYC and I wore them EVERYWHERE. Notice the “were” — my Westie decided that the ruffles just looked too delicious to pass up so one day I awoke to find one of the shoes destroyed. 🙁 So sad, but in close second is a pewter/gold flat sandal with ruffles from ankle to toe — LOVE them too!

  4. jcristg says:

I may have a problem, considering I own two of the above mentioned pairs of shoes. Hmm.

Moving on, my favorite pair (for the month of November only, obviously) are peep toe patent leopard print heels from JCrew.

  5. Mr. ST says:

Cool that you were name-checked in Groupon today.

Favorite shoes: my new Campers — just because i like to say “Camper” (pronounced “Kampher” because they are European).

  6. Monica says:

Favorite shoes= my rainbows!!! (do flip flops count???) I wear them at some point everyday of the summer and I leave them out in the winter to remind myself that it will someday get warm again!

  7. Amber says:

My favorite shoes are my Etienne Aigner brown peep toe pumps. Wooden 2 1/2 inch heel, cream fabric with dark brown patterning, leather trim and a delicate golden ring on the toe. They are my go-to work shoes and are simply the most comfortable shoes in the world – I have literally run several blocks down Gervais Street in pursuit of co-workers in these shoes, with absolutely no ill effects (except needing to get them re-tipped).

  8. Erica says:

My favorite pair of shoes are a gold pair of open toe pumps. I got them on sale at Belk. They were the shoes i wore to welcolme my Husband home from Iraq! I never tried to run in them until the jet touched down and i put the pumps to work. They were great and never let me down. I wear them when we go out on date night just to remember what that wonderful moment was like to see him after he fought for our freedom!!

  9. Mother says:

    Do bedroom slippers count?

  10. Melissa says:

My favorite pair of shoes are a pair of brown suede knee high boots with a wooden stacked heel. They were a “pity party pick me up purchase” (nice, eh?) and they quickly served and surpassed their purpose. I love wearing them! Every year I can’t wait for the weather to cool down so I can throw them on with everything.

  11. Lord Maxwell says:

I’m rather partial to a pair of ghillies I’ve had for years.

  12. nancy gainous says:

my favorite pair are a magenta satin lulu guiness high heel peep toe–they have a satin rosette at the toe and inside the shoe reads ‘life is a bed of roses’– awww, i want to go put them on right now!

  13. Sonya says:

I was thrilled to purchase a pair of Jimmy Choo peep-toe nude patent leather kitten heels at Bob Ellis in Charleston. They were destined to become my go-to shoe because they would go with everything. Unfortunately, my dog has delicious taste in shoes, but I don’t let that stop me. The destruction isn’t terribly noticeable when they’re on so now I just call them my Jimmy Chewed.

  14. Elizabeth says:

Why does Amber always have to run after co-workers? And are they also running, if it takes several blocks to catch them?

  15. Megan says:

My favorite pair of shoes are brown leather cowboy boots I bought in Italy. They were an impulse buy. At 98 euros, they were quite expensive for a girl studying abroad on a shoestring budge. I’ve had them resoled twice and they’re about due for a third time. I think I’ll wear them forever.

  16. Alisa says:

Uggs! I boycotted them for the longest time because they seemed so goofy looking, but when I finally tried a pair on I was hooked! They are so warm and so comfortable I sometimes use them as bedroom slippers!

  17. SPS says:

Just had to throw out a favorite pair of gray suede flats. Wore them until they wouldn’t stay on my feet anymore. Worked with any color. Amazing.

  18. Jada B! says:

Two years ago, my mom and I shopped an “after-Thanksgiving day” sale…where I found the perfect patent leather peep toe Fendi wedges with an ankle strap. She even found a pair of Patent Prada pumps, literally, with her name on them! We had so much fun posing in our new shoes, and later giving my grandmother a fashion show. She “ooh’d” and “ahh’d”…Every time I wear them I walk a little taller, remembering the special times I’ve shared with both of them…okay, I strut a little too! =)
