If you hate reading long things, and really want to help the Shop Tart and the Tank with their fundraising campaign for the Columbia Museum of Art, GO HERE between 12 am and 11:59 pm on May 6 and donate to the Columbia Museum of Art, making sure to specify that the donation is in honor of Anne Postic. (This can be specified in the box that reads “tribute notation.”) Or Jack Postic. Or both of them. Miss that deadline? GO HERE and donate any time before May 14th. Miss all the deadlines? Give anyway! Your favorite non-profit will love you for it.
Have you heard about the Central Carolina Community Foundation’s latest effort? Midlands Gives is a non-profit bonanza! What is it exactly? Put simply, a way to magnify your gift to your favorite participating non-profit over a period of 24 hours.
Beginning at midnight on May 6 — that’s tomorrow, or the middle of the night tonight — continuing for 24 hours until 11:59 pm May 6th, any gift you give may be magnified with bonus funds. The Shop Tart loves anything that gets people excited about giving and she hopes everyone will participate. Now for her personal plug…
As you may or may not know, she and the Tank are participating in the Columbia Museum of Art’s Be the Curator fundraising competition. Yes, competition. They are competing with five other fundraisers to see who can raise the most money. What will they win? The right to have the Tank’s personally selected piece from the vault of the museum displayed. Ida Kohlmeyer’s Slanted #7. Behold!
The Shop Tart and the Tank have talked about this impressive piece of work with Kris and Steve on WXRY. They made a video at the museum, which you can see below. In both cases, the Tank got in some zingers.
The Tank is rather upset with his mother, as they have slipped to third place, so this is your chance to make him happy. And get to see a really cool sculpture! It would mean a lot to both of them, but whether or not their piece wins the right to be displayed, they have won. This project has led to some great conversations about fundraising, how and why we do it, and how to ask people to give. The Tank is learning a lot and feeling pretty excited about helping. He even spoke about Be the Curator and Slanted #7 during share time at his school, and managed to inspire some donations from classmates, a very proud moment for him!
If you give during the 24 hour period starting at midnight tonight, donating to the Columbia Museum of Art, in honor of Anne Postic or Jack Postic, your gift will be magnified and you will make a little boy and his mother very, very happy! Please click here to donate. Thank you so very much in advance!
