It’s a Pig Pickin’! (And you can win a ticket.)

Y’all. What are you doing on Sunday? I’ll be headed to Wavering Place for a Fig Pig Pickin’ to benefit one of my favorite local charities, St. Lawrence Place. They provide housing and help for families in crisis. We really can’t offer enough of that, you know?

So…this Pig Pickin’ is happening on Sunday afternoon, and I have a feeling the weather will be gorgeous. Have you been to Wavering Place yet? It’s really lovely, a bit of country, just minutes from downtown.

And have you tried Yellow Dog Barbecue yet? They’ll be there. Owner Will Lacey, and his sweet dog Dixie, are the coolest. Will’s food is delicious, and creative.

Just a peek…

There will also be music by the Ruby Brunettes (who kind of remind me of Belle and Sebastien, but I’m told I’m always wrong about stuff like that, so take that assessment for what it’s worth), and beer from River Rat Brewery. And there will be wine, because I like wine.

While you’re out there, take a look at Casa Cucina, the on-site guest house where you can stay when you need a little retreat.

I’ve been thinking about heading out there for a solo writer’s retreat, but I’ll bring my computer for typing.

Back to the Pig Pickin’!

You can get your tickets online.

You can check out the event on Facebook.

You can read more about St. Lawrence Place here, because they rock.

You can see the invitation right here…

Tickets are $35 per person, and they include music, food, and booze. The gorgeous surroundings are free. Kids 12 and under can come for half price. Kids 13 and up have to pay like adults, because have you seen how much they eat?

I’m giving away two tickets here, to two lucky winners. Want to enter? Leave a comment below. Any comment will do, but I’d love to know what you’re doing for Halloween. I’ll be making pumpkin chili and handing out candy. Hooray!

And I forgot to add, please leave a comment before 5 pm on Friday, when a winner will be chosen at random.

Sadly, we never get trick-or-treaters, so no candy handouts here. We’ll probably just go grab a drink and then watch a scary movie like boring people. 🙂
